On 5 September 2025, the Vanguard Golf Club and Class ’92 gathered at Valley Golf Country Club to celebrate a golden milestone, Brod Donemark Calimon’s 50th birthday. To mark the occasion, Brod Donemark himself hosted the DC50 Golf Tournament, a day that brought together brotherhood, sport, and generosity in a way that made the milestone truly memorable.
The morning opened with heavy rains, raising doubts on whether the tournament would push through or if it would turn into a swimming session instead. Yet, as if on cue, the skies eased into a light drizzle and cloudy skies, perfect conditions for golf and fellowship. Spirits lifted as the tournament got underway, highlighted by Brod Ryan De Luna '95 clinching the Class C runner-up trophy and a series of raffle prizes that spread cheer among the participants.
Adding to the festivities was a spirited mini-tournament among the brods, divided into four teams. Team 3 emerged victorious, with every member carding impressive scores in the 80s, a testament to both skill and consistency. The winning lineup featured Brods Doy Ubaldo ’78, Renold Verano ’05, Voltaire Bactad ’94, Jaime delos Santos ’66, Bing Sembrano ’92, Pabs Villegas ’69, and Pons Carpio '81. In the true spirit of brotherhood and upon the request of Brod Donemark, the team chose to donate their cash winnings (13k) to the Vanguard Welfare Fund, turning triumph into a gesture of collective goodwill.
The day wrapped up with laughter, stories, and cheers all around, just the way milestones should be celebrated. Here’s to more golf, more brotherhood, and more birthdays ahead.
Cheers to you brod, for hitting life’s sweet spot at 50 and showing us how to swing into the golden years in style.
